Plot Outline:
A down-on-his luck father, whose insurance won't cover his son's heart transplant, takes the hospital's emergency room hostage until the doctors agree to perform the operation.

Useful Expressions

1. There's some people beginning to feel pinched.
= not enough money
= economy not good

2. A:I'd just go crazy and kick someone's butt.
    B: Watch your language.
= Do not swear!
Cf) Watch what you say. / What your tongue.

3. They'll tell you "You're overqualified."
= You have too many degrees/certificates for this job

Qualify = to reach the standard of ability or knowledge needed to do a particular job
eg) he qualified as a doctor last year

be overqualified = eg) only require a certificate but the person has a degree

4. Knock it out, baby, knock it out! Ball four! Let's go, Mikey!
= Get going!! Come on!!

5. You might not want to take that chance ..If he doesn't have the surgery, how long would he live?
Not long. Months, weeks

Take a chance: should he or shouldn't he? When you are not sure what the final result will be.

6. Don't push your luck.
= Trying to do something that may not happen. Sometimes to be too confident

7. The line is clipped. You pick up the phone, you get me. Okay?
= someone is able to listen

Cf) the line is busy

8. I want my kid's name on that list. I'm not kidding around.
= I really mean it

Cf) joke around
Cf) it's just a practical joke = I don't mean it

9. Can't go anywhere anymore without getting mugged, or murdered, or stabbed
= attacked / street fight / fighting

10. And now, as the bloody standoff comes to an end.
= stops / finishes / no more

Cf) It's getting closer to the end.
