Greetings
and Happy New Year from the Principal! updated
8th Jan 2005
Welcome to the St George community for another year!
2005 promises to
be a year of new
attainments and opportunities as the IELTS test becomes an
even more important avenue to university, our Certificate
courses get a new lease of life and the degree courses offered
through the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand get underway.
The challenge to excel is before us all and it is important
we adopt a positive approach in these initial months of the
year.
The boxing Day tsunami
made waves round the world and reminded us how fortunate we
are to live in New Zealand. The biggest shocks we encounter
are surprises like a break in the weather allowing our 2005
picnics to go ahead. Each and every New Zealander has given
over two dollars for the sufferers as a whole so distance
from the event has not decreased our appreciation of the need.
Perhaps the misfortune also
can spur us to use our own time well.
May 2005 bring us
new friendships as strive for ever higher standards. My hope
is that all involved with St George Institute of Learning
will do their best in the coming months to set priorities
and achievable goals that will lead to really significant
growth and
development.
You are welcome here,
and are invited to push your personal and academic boundaries
to the limits of your strength. We want quality performances
as much as
you want success.
Warm regards
Kevin Moncur
