National Certificate in Computing (Level 4)

Programme Summary

Advanced level programme for students who want a career in business administration with a view to obtaining a supervisory role.

The course is flexible, allowing students to develop general administration skills, while also covering areas such as communication skills, specialist text processing, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions.

Where will this take you?

A Certificate in Business Administration is excellent preparation for employment as a wordprocessor operator, receptionist, administrative assistant, personal assistant or secretary in any kind of business or industry. Alternatively you could be self-employed, running your own office services business. Those who graduate, and want to work, always get snapped up quickly.
Alternatively you can continue to further study with a range of options.

Length of the Course

18 weeks with 25 hours tuition per week (Monday-Friday) and a further 10 hours of self-study each week.

Entry requirements

  • Age 18 or over
  • Completion of Form 5 in New Zealand; or
  • Completion of 2nd year in Senior High School overseas
  • If English is not your first language, basic conversation skills are required. We can offer the language course to improve your English.
Structure of the Course

The course includes unit standards from the following:

  • Producing text processed specialist documents (MS Word)
  • Preparing Payroll and related employment administration records (MYOB Payroll)
  • Writing business correspondence to convey complex ideas and information
  • Participating in groups and / or teams to recommend solutions to problems
  • Participating in formal meetings
  • Learning team building skills
  • Learning technology and information systems
  • Evaluating and using various types of bank accounts and banking services
  • Performing the accounting functions for accounts receivable
  • Performing the accounting functions for accounts payable
  • Reading texts to research information
  • Applying marketing principles to enterprise activities

Registration Fee: NZ$180
