Course Outcomes and Aims

This diploma will provide a computing qualification to recognise the achievement of high level knowledge and skills, in the specialization of Support. This course was designed to assist in the preparation of staff for employers in a work area noted to be currently lacking qualified staff.

It is aimed at potential employers requiring

  • Local area network design, installation and support
  • Purchase and setup of individual computer workstations, with emphasis on LAN workstations
  • Diagnosis and solution of installation problems, both LAN and individual workstations
  • High-level networking skills

.

The student profile required of a graduate from the Diploma should include:

  • The ability to apply generic and specific computer support skills to a high level, both with single user and network support.
  • Should be able to communicate clearly and effectively with users and management, using this clear communication to help in diagnosis and resolution of problems (both computer and user-generated)
