Student services -Health and travel Insurance
ELIGIBILITY FOR HEALTH SERVICES:
Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical
treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly-funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed on their website at
http://www.moh.govt.nz.
ACCIDENT INSURANCE:
The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary
visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed onthe ACC website at http://www.acc.co.nz.
MEDICAL AND TRAVEL INSURANCE:
International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand.

StudentMax:
Student Max includes all the types of cover listed below for StudentEssentials, with the addition of cover for baggage and personal items. Full details of cover limits are shown on the Schedule of Benefits.
StudentEssentials:
This plan covers medical expenses; evacuation and repatriation; cancellation and changes to a planned journey; personal accident; personal liability; rental car excess; and money and travel documents. Full details of cover limits are shown on the Schedule of Benefits.
When the unexpected happens...
- We will pay 100% of your qualifying medical costs in New Zealand, with no excess.
- Emergency dental treatment is covered.
- We can refund your fees if you can't finish your studies due to an unexpected event (but not due to the financial collapse of your school).
- We provide travel insurance cover for you while travelling between your home country and New Zealand for up to 31 days.
- We cover you for travel to Australia or the South Pacific for up to 31 days.
- If you select StudentMax as your plan, we provide reimbursement if you are robbed or mugged and your personal effects are stolen.
- Provided your cover is continuous, we cover for claimed conditions (with the exception of chronic conditions) when you renew your International Student Insurance.
