Programme Summary

Advanced level of programme for students who want a career in IT and Web-sign with a view to obtaining a junior role.

This programme in Computing ( Level 4 ) will provide students with the skills demanded in today's IT environment. The programme encompasses all aspects of Information Technology and intermediate level of web-design.

 

Aim of the course

This qualification recognises readiness for further study in computing and related fields at the national diploma level, as well as for employment using computers. It can lead to the National Diploma in Computing (Level 5).

It recognises advanced skills for people who are using computers, and also provides an introductory qualification for those people who are interested in a career in computing or related fields.

 

Length of the Course

  • 18 weeks with 25 hours tuition per week (Monday-Friday) and a further 10 hours of self-study each week.

 

Entry requirements

  • Age 18 or over
  • Completion of Form 5 in New Zealand; or
  • Completion of 2nd year in Senior High School overseas
  • The National computing Level 3.or You can provide evidence of competency at this level to the Programme Leader
  • If English is not your first language, basic conversation skills are required. We can offer the language course to improve your English.

 

Structure of the Course

The course includes unit standards from the following:

  • Knowedge base of the PC
  • Competent use of advanced Word, Excel, Publisher and Power Point
  • Designing database
  • Buliding, evaluating and operating a database.
  • Designing a website
  • building, evaluating and operating a website

  • Competent user of IT (Information Technology)

  • The onfidence to pursue a higher learning at a degree level
  • A qualification that could enable you to enter the IT industry if you desired;

Qualifications you can gain

 The certificate will be issued in the name of NZQA and the provider.
